We base ourselves in Val di Funes, a quiet valley at the foot of the Odle peaks, at a family-run hotel at 1,850 m with a wood-fired sauna and a glacier-fed plunge trough in the garden.

Every day starts and ends there, so you only pack once. In between, we walk the high balconies and ridges — Adolf Munkel Weg, the Puez plateau, the Seceda ridge — and always stop at a hut for lunch.
